Q. How much does 2NDURO cost? 

  • 2NDURO costs €80 per team of 2 (€40 per person). Each team must complete only 1 registration form. No entries from single persons will be accepted. 

 

Q. Who is 2NDURO aimed at? 

  • 2NDURO is aimed at riders with good skill and fitness levels. With a 22km loop including 800m of climbing and descending and 5 stages totalling over 8km of racing. This is not a race for beginners. 

 

Q. How long will 2NDURO take my team mate and I? 

  • Overall, the 2NDURO course should take riders with decent fitness levels between 2.5-4 hours. 

   

Q. How do I register for the event? 

  • On-line Registration for the event opens on January 31st at 6pm on SI Entries. You cannot register on the day and it’s a first come first serve basis. 
  • On the event day, 24th March, you will need to present at Registration Desk at your allocated time.  
  • All competitions will get a specific time to be at Registration Desk to ensure queues are kept to a minimum. Please do not arrive more that 5 mins before this time 
  • The Ballinboola Car Park will be open from 8.30am.  
  • All timing chips must be handed in before 3.30pm.  

 

Q. How does timing work? 

  • Each team member will have a timing chip. The stage time is calculated as the time from the first rider start to the second rider finish. All stages count. You complete each stage once (no repeat runs, penalties may apply). 

 

Q. Are there prizes for the event? 

  • We’re working to provide some small prizes & will present at prize giving ceremony, directly after the event 

 

Q. Is there any safety guidance for the event (in addition to having basic safety equipment)? 

  • Yes, you must wear a full face helmet. You must carry a first aid kit and mobile phone at all times. There will be a check at registration to ensure riders comply. 
  • Under 18 riders must wear back protection, in compliance with the Cycling Ireland guidelines and as required for last years event 
  • If your teammate is injured on the stage, you are responsible for their welfare. Make sure they are stable and off the track. Contact the closest marshal or safety officer if you need help. 
  • Marshals will be positioned at stage start, end and at key intersections on the stages. 
  • There will be an ambulance and a mobile first aid responder available to support. 

 

Q. Where to stay for 2NDURO? 

 

Q. What categories are there? 

  • There are 4 categories for 2NDURO. There will be prizes for the Fastest Men, Women, Mixed Teams. In addition, this year we’re introducing a new U21 category, both riders need to be 20 or younger on race day to be eligible.   

 

 

Q. What is the minimum age for 2NDURO? 

  • The minimum age for 2NDURO is 14. Under 16 must ride with an adult (18+) at all times.   

 

 

Q. What about parking on the day? 

  • There will be plenty of parking in the Ballinaboola car park on the day. We will have parking attendants assisting you park. Unless you want to add another hour of biking on to your day, please do not park at the Ballyhoura Trail Centre. 

 

 

  1. Q. What are the stages like?
  • The stages have been designed by the Team Ballyhoura Trails Team for this event and are to Gravity Enduro / Grassroots Enduro level. They are technical in nature and will require an ability to ride natural trails. There is some Coillte single track but most is natural trails. All features are rollable.

Q. Do you need a Cycling Ireland Licence to race 2NDURO? 

  • A Cycling Ireland Licence is needed to enter online. If you do not have a Licence, a One Day Licence payment will need to be made when you register on line. 

 

 

Q. What is included in the entry fee? 

  • One day of blind Enduro racing, 5 timed stages and a great day out with your buddy! 

 

Q. Is a full-face helmet needed to race? 

  • Yes. A full face helmet will be required throughout the race. Failure to wear a full face helmet at all times will result in disqualification. 

 

Q. Where is Ballinaboola? 

  • Ballinaboola is located in the Ballyhoura mountain range in Co. Limerick, home to some of the finest trails around!

  1. What’s new for 2024?
  • The Team Ballyhoura MTB Trail Team have been busy and created a brand new route. There’s a brand new stage and return to one of the classic stages in Ballyhoura not featured last year. Your time for all stages count towards your finish time 

 

  1. Anything else new this year?
  • This year we are planning to make the event a Carbon Neutral/ Low Carbon event. We think this is important so we can keep running events and allow you to come to the Ballyhouras for these fun days.  

 

Q. Are E-bikes allowed to enter? 

  • We don’t have an e-bike category but you’re welcome to complete the event on an e-bike, you just won’t be eligible for overall podium positions.  

 

  1. How can I help make the event Carbon Neutral / Low Carbon?
  • Car pool, if possible. It’ll also help us with the car parking logistics.  
  • Bring a coffee cup if you have one, it’ll cut down on the need for disposable cups 
  • Be patient, as we work through a few changes but also proud you’re contributing to a sustainable event.
